Introduction

What are TikTok-funded promotions?

TikTok-funded promotions are customer-facing promotions that are fully paid for by TikTok to support our promotional events (i.e. Black Friday).

How to recognize a promotion funded by TikTok

Head to the TikTok app to check for TikTok-funded promotions. We include icons to highlight where we have provided a customer discount. Below, you can see the promotion types and how to spot them within the app. We display icons across: Product Detail Page, Live Shopping Bag, Showcase, Shopping Cart, and other customer-facing pages.

Product Coupons

Product Coupons offer consumers 'X% off' or '$X off' their order when they satisfy a minimum purchase requirement. Customers can use this coupon and seller promotions at the same time.

Product Incentives

TikTok Shop provides exclusive product discounts, which are highlighted with a “HOT DEAL” Icon. TikTok Shop also sets up product discounts specific to the content or user type. These include tags that help inform customers that there is an additional requirement for use. For example: LIVE Exclusive, New Customer Deal, etc. TikTok-funded Product Incentives can not be used with your Flash Deal promotions. If these two promotions are applied to the same product, only the Flash Deal price will be displayed.‘

Buy More, Save More

Buy More Save More promotions offer customers discounts based on different purchase requirements, such as “buy 2 items, get 20% off” or “buy $100, get $20 off,” to incentivize more purchases in a given order. When the conditions have been met, this promotion can be used with all of your other promotions.

Shipping Fee Discounts

TikTok-funded Shipping Fee Discounts offer customers free shipping or a reduced shipping fee on qualified orders at check out. TikTok-funded Shipping Fee Discounts can be used with all of your promotions, but when the shipping fee is calculated, the TikTok-funded discounts will be deducted first. If there are still shipping costs remaining after this deduction, you will be responsible for them.

How to Withdraw from TikTok Shop-funded Promotions?

Step 1: Go to Seller Center -> Marketing -> TikTok-Funded Promotion Settings*This is a test account with dummy data for reference only. The actual interface and features may vary.
Step 2: Review the current promotions funded by TikTok. If you're happy with the existing settings, no further action is needed.
If you do not want product discounts from TikTok Shop, proceed to step 3.
Step 3: To withdraw from a promotion type, simply click the switch to the side of the promotion and then confirm your decision. Update your preference for each promotion type separately.

FAQ

1: If I withdraw from a given type of TikTok-funded promotion, such as Product Coupon, am I withdrawn from only one promotion event or from all events of that promotion type?

A: If you withdraw from a given type of TikTok-funded promotion, you will be withdrawn from all future promotion events of that specific type.

2: Can I withdraw only certain items from TikTok funded promotions?

A: No, currently you are unable to withdraw only certain items from TikTok funded promotions. If you withdraw, all your items will be excluded from that type of promotion.

3: If I withdraw from TikTok-funded promotions, can I rejoin in the future?

A: Yes, you can rejoin if you change your mind.

4: What happens to products with TikTok-funded promotions when I withdraw?

A: Any discounts and promotional displays, such as banners and tags, related to the type of TikTok-funded promotion from which you withdraw will be invalidated and made invisible to customers almost instantaneously. Frequent changes to your participation status will cause fluctuations to the price seen by customers. These inconsistencies may result in issues during check out. Please use caution!

5: What is the difference between TikTok-funded promotions and campaigns? What happens if I withdraw from TikTok-funded promotions while registered in a campaign event?

"Campaigns" as used here refers to the Campaigns module in the Seller Center. If you are registered for a campaign (i.e. Black Friday) in the Campaigns module, but withdraw from TikTok funded promotions, you will still be eligible for the other non-promotional benefits (i.e. Traffic boost).

6: If I withdraw from TikTok-funded promotions, will it affect my own promotions that are set up in the Seller Center?

A: Opting out of TikTok-funded promotions will not affect your own promotions.

7: If a customer places an order with coupons but decides to cancel the order or return the product(s) after receipt, can Product Coupons be returned to them?

A: As long as it is not expired, product coupons can be returned to customers when orders are cancelled or a full refund has been made.

8: If customers use a TikTok-funded promotion, where can I find the amount of the discount for an order?

A: You can check settlement breakdowns in the Statements option under Finances in the Seller Center navigation menu, as shown below:
