Violation & Appeal Guide

AI Summary

Violations can trigger warnings, listing or account restrictions, shipping/OVL limits, fund holds, or deactivation, and connected accounts may also be affected. Check Seller Center → Account Health → Violation Records to see status and available options: Correct before enforcement if offered, or Appeal after enforcement within 30 days (up to 2 appeals; some cases have 12–72 hours). Strong appeals need complete, original proof; after 2 rejections, seek escalation via your AM or the TTS US Seller Growth Community.

This guide explains what happens when you receive a violation, your available options, and how to improve your chances of resolution.

What Enforcement Looks Like

TikTok Shop may take the following actions for policy violations or performance issues:
  • Warning messages
  • Temporarily restricting features and functions → Temporary Account Restrictions
  • Removing or freezing product listings
  • Suspending access to campaigns, affiliate programs, and platform benefits
  • Temporarily restricting new listing creation (when duplicate listings are detected across shop groups)
  • Temporarily reducing shop or product visibility
  • Seller Shipping limitations from 90 up to 365 days
  • Order volume limits, up to suspension of new orders → Order Volume Limit (OVL) (If shop is deactivated or OVL hits 0, associated creator accounts' e-commerce permissions are blocked simultaneously)
  • Requiring account re-verification
  • Deferred Settlement Period
  • Temporarily or permanently suspending fund withdrawals
  • Deducting from account balance to cover losses
  • Legal action or reporting to relevant authorities

  • The law requires it
  • TikTok suspects fraudulent, deceptive, illegal, or harmful activity
  • The seller breached policies outside the AHR scope

What To Do When You Receive a Violation

Your 3 Options When You Receive a Violation

Option A: Correct (Before enforcement takes effect)

A Correction lets you fix the issue in your listing before any penalty is applied. This is the fastest path to resolving a violation.
  • Who can use it: Not available to all sellers or all violation types. Check your violation ticket, if Correction is available, it will appear there.
  • Where to find it: Seller Center → Account Health → Shop Health → Violation Records → Unread Violations
How to complete a CorrectionStep 1: Receive the alert Log in and navigate to your Violation Records. Status shows "Pending."
Step 2: Choose your correction type and fix the listing
Correction Type
What To Do
Quality ImprovementFix the listing, then upload proof (image or PDF, .jpeg/.png, under 5MB) after the corrected listing is live
Listing ImprovementSame as above — update listing, then submit proof once it's live
AI CorrectionAccept the AI-suggested fix by clicking "Apply" → instant auto-approval, violation cancelled immediately. Or click "Correct" to do it manually instead.
⚠️ You must upload proof after your corrected listing is live. Clicking "Submit for review" without making changes will return an error.
Step 3: Wait for the result
Outcome
Meaning
✅ Correction ApprovedEnforcement cancelled — no penalty applied
❌ Correction FailedEnforcement applied — you can still submit an Appeal
Correction vs. Appeal [Key difference] :
  • Correction = you acknowledge the listing had an issue and you've fixed it. Happens before enforcement.
  • Appeal = you formally dispute the violation decision. Happens after enforcement.

Option B: Appeal (Dispute after enforcement takes effect)

If you believe the violation was incorrect, or if your Correction was rejected, you can submit an Appeal.Timeline rules:
  • File within 30 days of notification
  • If rejected: second appeal within 15 days of rejection
  • Maximum 2 appeals per case
  • For violations where enforcement is not yet immediate: appeal window is 12–72 hours — if approved, enforcement will not be applied
Where to appeal: Seller Center → Account Health → Violation Records → View Details → Appeal
⚠️ Submitting an appeal does not guarantee approval. TikTok reviews your evidence and may also consider your account history and risk profile.

Option C: Get Additional Support (After Appeals Are Exhausted)

If you have exhausted all available appeals and still need guidance, unmanaged sellers may seek additional support through the Seller Network & Support Community.
Who this is for: Sellers looking for help understanding violations, next steps, or general guidance across different violation scenarios.
How it helps:
  • Get additional guidance on violation-related concerns
  • Receive support in understanding documentation expectations and next steps
  • Community agents may help escalate or route certain cases for further review when appropriate
‼️ Important to know:Support and resolution are not guaranteed. Outcomes depend on the specific violation type, the supporting documentation provided, and whether submitted materials meet current requirements and policy standards.

How to Write a Strong Appeal?

  • To improve your chances of a successful appeal, make sure your documentation is complete, original, and clearly legible. Incomplete or altered documents will result in automatic rejection.
Required documents:
  • Clear photo of your business license + government-issued ID (front and back)
  • Proof of warehouse ownership (property documents / lease agreement / utility bills)
  • Purchase contract and invoices: business entity and registration details must match; invoices should align with your best-selling products and clearly show price and quantity
Optional but recommended:
  • Shipping records
  • Stock photos of your goods
Required video:
  • A video of you holding your business license + government-issued ID (front and back clearly visible, face shown clearly, no hats or glasses)
Optional videos:
  • Video of goods stored in your warehouse
  • Videos showing your qualifications on other platforms (company info + sales trends)
⚠️ Submitting incomplete, missing, altered, or low-quality documents will result in automatic rejection. Approval of your appeal is not guaranteed.
