[US-MX Program] TikTok Shop Official Shipping Fee Policy
03/18/2026
Summary
What are the updated logistics shipping fee rules for cross-border sellers shipping from the U.S. to Mexico starting March 12, 2026?
- Shipping fees are based on chargeable weight tiers, with an additional 78 MXN/kg for weights over 15kg. Chargeable weight is the highest among seller-declared actual/volumetric weight and carrier-verified actual/volumetric weight.
- Maximum parcel dimensions are 38x48x58 cm and max weight is 22kg. Accurate SKU weights and dimensions are critical to avoid unexpected fees, especially for rigid or bulky packaging.
How is the chargeable weight for parcels calculated and what packaging considerations should sellers keep in mind?
- Chargeable weight is the highest value among seller-declared actual weight, seller-declared volumetric weight, carrier-verified actual weight, and carrier-verified volumetric weight (volumetric weight = L×W×H/5000).
- Sellers should properly wrap corners/edges; otherwise, volumetric weight may be calculated using the parcel’s longest side, increasing fees. Soft or compressible packaging is recommended for bulky/light items to reduce volumetric charges.
How are import taxes handled for shipments from the U.S. to Mexico on TikTok Shop?
- TikTok Shop advances customs duties on behalf of sellers and deducts the amount from their pending settlements. The final tax amount depends on Mexican Customs’ actual charges.
- The platform withholds an estimated tax at order completion and reconciles any differences by refunding overcharges or collecting undercharges after customs clearance.
How is the seller’s actual shipping cost calculated and what are the buyer’s shipping fee standards?
- Seller’s actual shipping cost = shipping fee paid by seller to platform minus shipping fee paid by buyer to platform. Seller-side fees are confirmed post-delivery on the Seller Center.
- Buyer shipping fees depend on delivery zones within Mexico and are based on the greater of seller-declared actual or volumetric weight, displayed at checkout.
What are the implications for sellers regarding packaging and operational strategies to optimize shipping costs?
- Sellers should monitor volumetric weight impacts, especially for large but lightweight or non-boxed items, and consider switching to compressible packaging or vacuum-sealing bulky products.
- Proper packaging reduces volumetric weight charges and unexpected fees, helping sellers control logistics costs and maintain profitability on TikTok Shop.

Logistics Charging & Volumetric Weight Rules
*Charging Rules: Shipping fees are calculated based on the chargeable weight tier of a parcel. Any weight exceeding 15kg will be charged at an additional rate of 78 MXN/kg. Example: For a 16.2kg parcel, shipping fee = 1497+78*(16.2-15)
*Parcel Chargeable Weight Rules: The chargeable weight per parcel is determined by taking the highest value among the following four metrics: seller-declared actual weight, seller-declared volumetric weight, carrier-verified actual weight, and carrier-verified volumetric weight. If there is a delay in the carrier’s verification feedback, the platform reserves the right to temporarily charge shipping fees based on the seller-declared actual and volumetric weights. If the carrier's subsequent verification feedback shows a higher volumetric weight, the platform will charge the difference. Please maintain accurate SKU actual weights and dimensions (LWH).
[Note] Please pay attention to changes in logistics fee rates resulting from volumetric weight calculations, particularly for parcels using rigid box packaging, air column packaging, large but lightweight items, or non-boxed items with clear, non-compressible frames (as shown in the example images below), and adjust your operational strategies accordingly. When packing parcels, please ensure that all corners and edges are properly wrapped. Otherwise, the volumetric weight will be calculated based on the longest side of the parcel, which may result in additional charges.
- Seller-declared actual weight = Sum of the actual weights of all SKUs within the parcel.
- Seller-declared volumetric weight = Theoretical volume of the parcel. This is calculated by taking the longest side among all SKUs in the parcel as the length, the second longest side as the width, and the sum of all SKU heights as the height, with the volumetric factor of 5000. Volumetric weight (kg) = Length(cm)*Width(cm)*Height(cm)/5000.
- Carrier-verified actual weight: The actual weight of the parcel measured and reported by the carrier at the transit warehouse
- Carrier-verified volumetric weight: The parcel dimensions measured and reported by the carrier at the transit warehouse. Volumetric weight (kg) = Length(cm)*Width(cm)*Height(cm)/5000
- Shipping Restrictions: Maximum dimensions: 38*48*58cm; Maximum weight: 22kg

Taxes Terms
If import taxes are incurred, the TikTok Shop platform will advance the customs duties on behalf of the seller during customs declaration. The amount will subsequently be deducted from the seller's pending settlement balance. The final customs duty policy is subject to the actual implementation standard of Mexican Customs. The platform will withhold an estimated tax amount upon order completion. If there is any difference between the actual amount collected by Customs and the estimated amount, the platform will refund overcharges or collect undercharges based on the actual amount collected by Customs. For specific rules, please refer to >> Calculating Import Taxes for Products Supplied from the United States to Mexico.
How to Calculate the Seller's Actual Shipping Cost
Seller's actual shipping cost = [Actual shipping fee paid by the seller to the platform - Shipping fee paid by the buyer to the platform]

*"Zone" represents the delivery distance from the origin state of the parcel within Mexico to the destination state entered by the user when placing the order. Zone classifications can be found via this link: Zone Classification Details*Parcel Chargeable Weight Rules: The chargeable weight per parcel is determined by taking the greater value between the seller-declared actual weight and the seller-declared volumetric weight.Seller-declared volumetric weight = Theoretical volume of the parcel.
- Seller-declared actual weight = Sum of the actual weights of all SKUs within the parcel.
Example
A user in Zone 4-7 purchases a product weighing 2kg. Based on the above seller- and user-side shipping fee standards, the seller's actual shipping cost is 111 MXN = 250 MXN - 139 MXN
- The shipping fee paid by the user to the seller is 139 MXN
- The shipping fee paid by the seller to the platform is 250 MXN
The actual shipping fee paid by the seller to the platform is calculated based on the above seller-side shipping fee standard. The fee is calculated after the parcel has been delivered by the carrier, and is displayed for confirmation on the Order Settlement Details page in the Seller Center; The shipping fee paid by the user to the platform is calculated based on the above user-side shipping fee standard and is displayed to the user during checkout on the platform
