How to Submit Creator Appeals

TikTok Shop takes action against creators who violate our TikTok Shop Content Policy and related policies. If creators believe that an enforcement action has been taken against them in error, they may file an appeal to TikTok Shop. TikTok Shop will then investigate the case and take corrective actions where applicable.

How can I initiate an appeal?

If a creator believes that a violation or enforcement action was made in error, they may submit an appeal by following these steps: TikTok Shop for Creators page > Creator Health Rating > Violations > Select the Violation > Scroll to bottom of page to Appeal.

What documents are needed for an appeal?

Creators are responsible for collecting and preparing all supporting documents that may be required for a case investigation, including:
  • A clear explanation of why they feel that the enforcement action was taken against them in error
  • Any additional materials or information required by TikTok Shop
  • The table below lists the required supporting documents for each violation type. Please include only those documents that are directly relevant to the specific violation.
Tip: All appeal documentation and authorization letters must be submitted in English to ensure faster resolution and a full understanding of your request.

  • Proof that the creator is not a minor, such as:
  • Copy of US ID Card
  • Copy of Passport
  • Copy of Driver's License
  • Copy of Green Card
Unoriginal Content
To submit an appeal, you must either :
(A) provide proof of ownership of the content OR(B) provide authorization documents showing that you have permission to post the content on behalf of the rightful owner.
Below are the details for both options:
A) Proof of Content Ownership:To demonstrate content ownership of the content, please provide all of the following:
B) Proof of Authorization:
  1. A photo demonstrating you own the content (such as Photo of the LIVE stream host/creator posing in the liveroom/video setting (if present) AND
  2. Background of the film set, which can prove it is the same environment where they conducted the live / video setting AND
  3. A picture featuring at least one physical product within the set AND
  4. Photograph of the filming equipment used in the livestream/video production (e.g., ring light, camera, laptop, tripod, phone)
    • Filming equipment refers to the equipment that is used to film the video / LIVE stream.
    • Editing programs are not considered filming equipment.
Authorization Letter:
  • Authorization letter that states that the original creator authorizes the other party to utilise the content.
  • Authorisation letter should include the following depending on the scenarios:
    1. Collaboration/ Authorization Relationship between Two Parties
      1. Both parties User IDs / handles
      2. Video ID(s) that they are allowed to use
      • If they are allowed to use all the content, it should be clearly stated
      • If specific video IDs are listed, the original video ID should be included within the list
      1. Original creator's signature/ company stamps
b. Authorization Across Multiple Parties
  1. Original creator's UID/ handle
  2. List of creators using original content's UIDs / handles
  • Suspected unoriginal content creator information should be part of the list
  1. Video ID(s) that they are allowed to use
  • If they are allowed to use all the content, it should be clearly stated
  • If specific video IDs are listed, the original video ID should be included within the list
  1. Original creator's signature/ company stamp
      Content with Animals
      • Proof that the products used or demonstrated on animals in the content are products intended for animals or pets

      How long does the appeals process take?

      Each violation is eligible to be appealed once within 30 calendar days after the violation notification is sent to the creator. TikTok Shop will make a decision regarding the appeal outcome within seven (7) business days.
      All decisions made by TikTok Shop are made at our sole discretion and are final after the appeal is finalized.
      • If the appeal is successful, TikTok Shop will remove any enforcement actions issued and restore any withdrawn privileges.
      • If the appeal is unsuccessful, TikTok Shop will continue the enforcements issued and the withdrawal of privileges.

      When will points added or deducted be reset?

      Each point added to your Creator Health Rating is valid for 90 days. Point deductions from your Creator Health Rating will also reset after 90 days.

      What can I do to prevent violations and enforcement actions?

      Visit the Policy Center regularly to stay updated with our policies and review the Creator Health Rating page frequently.
      Use these features to prevent violations:
      • Video Pre-Check Tool: The Video Pre-Check Tool, available in your TikTok Shop Toolkit, helps you check your videos for potential content issues before posting them. For instructions, refer to the How to Use the Video Pre-Check Tool article.
      • Product Selection Risk Reminder: When binding a product to your content, you will receive a reminder about the most common content violations associated with that type of product. This feature enables you to review your content for common violations before you post it.
