FAQs: INFORM Consumers Act

What is the INFORM Consumers Act?

The INFORM Consumers Act requires e-commerce platforms like TikTok Shop to collect, verify, and share specific seller information with customers, with the goal of
creating a safe and transparent online buying experience for them.

Which sellers are impacted?

Sellers (otherwise known as high-volume sellers) who have completed 200 or more separate sales or transactions of new or unused products and
earned at least $5,000 in gross revenues in any continuous 12-month period during the past 24 months.

How are these sellers impacted?

TikTok Shop needs to collect and verify specific information from high-volume sellers once a year. These sellers will receive a system notification annually to verify this information in the Qualification Center
, which includes:

  • Contact information:
    • For individual/sole proprietorship sellers: Business owner's name
    • For corporate/partnership sellers: Government-issued record/tax document with business name and address
    • Tax ID (EIN)
    • Email
    • Phone number
For high-volume sellers with annual gross revenues of at least $20,000
, TikTok Shop must disclose their contact information, including physical address, on their Product Detail Pages. There are some exceptions that allow only partial address sharing with customers.
