The TikTok Partner Privacy Policy describes the personal information we collect from you as a seller on TikTok Shop (“TTS Seller” or “you”) and how we process that information. This Supplemental Policy supplements the TikTok Partner Privacy Policy by explaining the additional information we collect, process and share about you, if you are a TTS Seller, to verify and authenticate your identity.

What Information We Collect

Identification document: We will collect a government issued photo ID that you choose to provide in order to verify your identity.
Photo: We may collect a selfie photo of you holding your identification document that you choose to provide in order to confirm that the identification belongs to you.
Facial data: We partner with a third-party service provider that may, with your consent when required under applicable law, use facial recognition technology to verify that the identification document matches your photo. This facial data may be considered “biometric data” under the laws of some jurisdictions. This facial data is not shared with TikTok by our third-party service provider.
Verification result: We receive the result of that verification from the third-party service provider.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to verify your identity as part of the TTS Seller account registration and validation. Verification of your identity is necessary for anti-fraud purposes and for TikTok to comply with its legal obligations such as those under anti-money laundering laws.

If we offer you the option to verify your identity using a third-party service provider's facial recognition technology, this technology will extract biometric facial data from your selfie photo and the photo on the identification document in order to check that they match.Your biometric facial data will only be used for identity verification and authentication purposes and will not be used to develop or improve other technologies, products, or services.

If you consent to verify your identify through automated review, we will share your information with our third-party service provider, Persona, as necessary for them to provide us with the facial recognition technology services described above.

We may also disclose this information in other limited circumstances, such as when disclosure is required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or government requests.

Retention

We retain a copy of your identification document, photo and identity verification result for as long as you have an account on TikTok Shop and for an additional six years. This is necessary for us to comply with our legal obligations. When you choose to verify your identity using automated identity verification technology, your facial data is retained for up to one year by our third-party service provider, or longer if needed for purposes of fraud detection and investigation, pursuant to legal obligations, or as otherwise communicated to you.
