How Creators Can Request Samples
11/19/2025
Summary
What are TikTok Shop samples and how can creators use them to promote products?
- Samples are products creators can request or purchase from sellers to demo and review in TikTok videos or LIVE streams, helping build authentic content and partnerships. Creators showcase samples in short videos or 10-minute LIVEs with product links to drive sales.
What are the eligibility criteria and limits for requesting free or refundable samples on TikTok Shop?
- Creators need sales within the last 120 days to access free samples; otherwise, they can purchase refundable samples. Sample request limits depend on monthly GMV: up to 5 requests (<$5K GMV), 20 (between $5K-$150K), or 50 (>$150K). Badge levels also affect free sample allowances.
How do creators find, request, and manage samples from sellers on TikTok Shop?
- Creators find samples via the Product Marketplace (using the Free Sample filter) or Collab Invites. They request samples by submitting size and shipping info; sellers approve or reject requests. Creators can track sample status and withdraw requests before shipment.
What are the posting requirements and timelines for creators after receiving samples?
- Creators must post promotional content within 14 days of receiving a sample, either as a short video (visible for 3+ days) or a 10-minute LIVE with pinned product links. TikTok sends reminders 3 and 1 day before the deadline to ensure timely posting.
What are the key restrictions and best practices for requesting multiple samples or reapplying?
- Creators can request only one of each item per seller but can request different items from the same or different sellers. They can reapply immediately after withdrawing a request or 30 days after disapproval, expiration, or cancellation to maintain sample opportunities.
What are samples?
As a TikTok Shop creator, you can easily request and receive samples from certain sellers. You can also purchase samples and receive a refund once you've posted promotional content that generates sales.Once you receive your sample, bring the product to life by demoing and showing off what you love, what you don't and more to your followers in a public short-form video or 10-minute TikTok LIVE. In Manage Samples, you can see what samples have been approved or purchased, which still need content, and how your content performed. You'll get to test and review lots of fun items, your viewers get to hear what you think, and you can form partnerships with sellers and brands for future collaborations.
Free Sample Eligibility
Creators without historical sales in the last 120 days may have limited access to free samples. In order to activate or maintain free sample requests, creators can use refundable samples or search by image to create Shoppable Videos and LIVEs. Once a creator starts to earn GMV, free sample requests will be available on TikTok Shop. Note: this only applies to public free sample requests and not targeted sample campaigns or Target collaborations.

Request Samples from Sellers
When you request a sample from the seller, sellers reserve the right to approve, reject or ignore a sample request. After pressing Request from seller, complete the required information to receive your sample, including size, contact details and shipping information.
Number of Seller sample requests: The number of sample requests under review, waiting for shipment and with content pending cannot exceed five (5) at any given time if you have less than $5K in monthly GMV. If you generate more than $150K in monthly GMV, you can request up to 50 samples at any given time.

Notes: - Withdraw requests: After the sample request has been submitted, it can be canceled or withdrawn prior to the seller processing the sample for shipment. You can withdraw the request via the Withdraw Request button on the Request Details page.
- If you have already purchased a Refundable Sample and that order is in progress, you won't be able to request a sample from the seller.
Sample Posting Reminders
