New Shop Probation Program Requirements

AI Summary

All new TikTok Shop stores start in a temporary probation ramp-up with order and listing caps, not a penalty. Limits increase as you complete onboarding tasks and show strong fulfillment, accurate listings, and customer support: Beginner 50/100, Standard 100/200, Premium 200/1,000, then Pro removes order caps. OVL or listing limits may be temporarily lowered during routine reviews without a violation; track progress in Seller Center on the probation page, homepage, and Account Health.

The New Shop Probation Program

This program applies to all new shops on TikTok Shop. To help new sellers build a strong, trustworthy foundation, our New Shop Probation Program provides a short ramp-up period with measured limits. This program is designed to help you adjust to selling on TikTok Shop before scaling your business. Once you've completed onboarding, you can upload products and receive orders, and completing specific tasks will increase these limits. Read on for more details!
Tip: You can always check your shop's current order and product listing details on the Probation page.

Why Your Shop is in the New Shop Probation Program

The New Shop Probation is designed to help you build a strong, trustworthy foundation before scaling your business on TikTok Shop. The core purposes are to:
• Protect buyer trust and support sustainable growth by starting new shops in a short ramp-up period with measured limits.
• Automatically increase these limits and progress your shop to higher tiers as you demonstrate reliable fulfillment, accurate listings, and responsive customer support.

Graduating From New Shop Probation Program

We do not want our sellers to stay in probation any longer than necessary. You can complete tasks to upgrade your shop from Beginner to Standard to Premium, and finally Pro status!
You can receive more orders every day and upload more products as you ascend the tiers:
  • At Beginner status, you can receive up to 50 orders every day and you can upload up to 100 products.
  • At Standard status, you can receive up to 100 orders every day and you can upload up to 200 products.
  • At Premium status, you can receive up to 200 orders every day and you can upload up to 1,000 products.
  • Pro status means your shop has graduated and is no longer limited to the number of orders from the Probation Program. Congratulations!
Your Graduation Checklist: The table below outlines the tasks you need to complete to hit each status.

Note: During probation, your Order Volume Limit (OVL) may be temporarily reduced as part of a routine account, performance, compliance, or security review — this does not mean your shop has a violation. Status progression or graduation may be delayed while the review is in progress. Continue fulfilling orders reliably and delivering a good customer experience. Your OVL will be reassessed and adjusted periodically. For more details, review the FAQ below and the Order Volume Limit page.
You can monitor your progress toward these goals in the Seller Center.

Tracking Your Probation Status

Your current probation status can be found on the Seller Center Homepage itself. Click into it to find out what else you need to do to hit the next status.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why was my shop placed in Probation? All new shops start in probation as part of TikTok Shop’s standard ramp-up process. This helps protect buyer trust while giving you time to establish a strong track record.
Is Probation a penalty or enforcement action? No. Probation is not a violation or punishment. It is a temporary growth phase designed to support new sellers as they learn platform requirements and best practices.
What limits apply during Probation? You may see limits on daily orders, total product listings. These guardrails help ensure consistent fulfillment and customer experience as your shop grows.
How long does Probation last? There is no fixed timeline. Shops typically graduate as soon as they meet performance and compliance standards consistently.
Will my strong performance during Probation affect my future growth?Yes — in a positive way. Strong performance helps your shop unlock higher limits, greater visibility, and faster growth opportunities.
When can I start selling on TikTok Shop?Where can I find the Probation Quiz? How can I check if I have received any counterfeit-related violations?
  • Check the Overview tab under the Account Health page in Seller Center, and tap on Intellectual property in the bottom module. It filters out any intellectual property policy violations you may have received; these include counterfeit-related violations.

How can I check my Shop Performance Score? Why can I not find my Shop Performance Score?
  • You need to complete at least 30 orders in 90 calendar days in order to have a Shop Performance Score. Check out our Shop Performance Score (SPS) guide for more information.
Why is my daily Order Volume Limit (OVL) less than 50?Your daily Order Volume Limit (OVL) may be significantly lower than the standard limit for your probation status, including an OVL of 5, while TikTok Shop completes account, performance, compliance, or security checks.
This does not necessarily mean your shop has received a violation. These temporary limits allow your shop to continue selling while TikTok Shop reviews your recent account activity, selling history, and performance.
To improve eligibility for a higher OVL, continue fulfilling genuine orders reliably, shipping on time, maintaining accurate listings, avoiding cancellations and complaints, and complying with TikTok Shop policies.
TikTok Shop will periodically reassess your account activity and overall performance and adjust your OVL accordingly.
Why is my total listing limit less than 100?The platform may dynamically adjust your product listing limit based on your shop's operating metrics (like fulfillment rates and customer feedback) and compliance risks (like policy violation history).

Enforcement Actions and Appeals

We regularly review your shop’s compliance with this document and our Seller Enforcement Policy. If any violations are identified, TikTok Shop may take enforcement action at our sole discretion. For example, failure to meet performance standards may result in a deduction of points. This may include, but is not limited to:
  • Deducting points from your Account Health Rating
  • Removing product listings
  • Revoking your access to offer products for sale
  • Issuing refunds to customers
For more information on enforcement actions, refer to our Seller Enforcement Policy. If you would like to appeal an enforcement action, visit the Appeals section for guidance.
