Product Listing Policy

This policy outlines the requirements that all product listings must meet on TikTok Shop.

Product Listings

Product listings are the first step to selling on TikTok Shop and include the details that represent your products to customers. Clear and accurate listings help customers find and understand your products. All listings must comply with applicable laws, regulations, and TikTok Shop policies, including our Prohibited Products Policy and Restricted Products Policy.

Prohibited Product Listing Behavior

The following behaviors are prohibited on TikTok Shop and will be considered violations of this policy. Engaging in these behaviors may result in enforcement actions. Prohibited behaviors include, but are not limited to:
  • Sellers are strictly prohibited from creating, publishing, listing, or disseminating content or products that contain or allude to Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, sexual solicitation, pedophilia, and physical or psychological abuse of young people. Sellers must not promote or redistribute any content that contains or alludes to CSAM, sextortion, grooming, or similar. Sellers must also adhere to our TikTok Community Guidelines.
  • Sellers are strictly prohibited from listing their products in any way that attempts to evade or avoid compliance with our TikTok policies.
  • Sellers are prohibited from making claims anywhere in their product listing that the products are dupes, fakes, knock-offs, or anything similar.
  • Sellers must not advertise products, directly or indirectly, in such a way that targets minors.
  • Sellers are prohibited from modifying consumer orders by changing product detail pages. All sellers must honor the details listed on their product detail pages at the time of purchase.
  • Sellers are strictly prohibited from repurposing existing product listings to represent a different product. This includes changing key details such as the title, images, brand, or price in a way that misleads customers and invalidates previous reviews or fulfillment data.
  • Sellers are explicitly prohibited from creating, publishing, or disseminating content that violates, incites, or facilitates the violation of intellectual property or personal rights of any individual on TikTok Shop. It is strictly prohibited to utilize the name, image, or likeness of another person for commercial objectives, including product endorsements and merchandise, without obtaining approval from the intellectual property owner.
  • Sellers are prohibited from engaging in any form of misuse or manipulation of the TikTok Shop platform with the intention of artificially inflating traffic to product listings. This encompasses the utilization of irrelevant or deceptive descriptions, brands, or key attributes in product titles, as well as the deliberate simulation of customer traffic through the deployment of bots or analogous techniques. Such actions will result in severe consequences.
  • Sellers are prohibited from using official TikTok Shop badges, tags, or labels (e.g., Global Pick) without platform authorization.
  • Sellers are prohibited from listing products at suspicious prices in comparison with category standards, demonstrating a lack of intent to sell or fulfill the customer's order. These product listings will be removed or suspended in accordance with this policy.
  • Sellers are prohibited from making negative or disparaging comparisons to other brands or products. Malicious or disparaging comparisons to other products on or off of TikTok Shop is strictly prohibited.
  • Sellers are prohibited from making false, exaggerated, or unproven claims about a product’s functionality or effects. This includes misleading “before and after” images, unverified performance claims, or any statements that lack appropriate evidence or violate local advertising laws.
  • Sellers must make truthful and accurate origin claims for their products and should not mislead customers in any way. For example, a product that is assembled in Indonesia with components from China and South Korea and packaged in the United States should not be deceptively advertised or labeled as “Made in the USA.”
  • Sellers are explicitly prohibited from selling products with the intention of supporting election campaign fundraising activities.
  • Sellers must not use sympathy to promote products or encourage purchases.

Product Detail Page Requirements

The product detail page is where a customer first discovers a product. A product detail page is required to contain accurate, descriptive, concise and useful information a customer needs to make an informed purchase decision. The following information is mandatory for every detail page listed on TikTok Shop:
  • Product title
  • Product description
  • Brand
  • Product images
  • Product variations (size, color, flavor) where applicable
  • Any legally required product disclosures or warnings, including but not limited to California's Prop. 65
  • Any other product details that are legally required to be displayed or outlined in other TikTok Shop policies
To ensure a high-quality and customer friendly experience on TikTok Shop, all sellers are required to adhere to the following product listing standards for every attribute of their listing:
  • Be clearly written and help customers to understand the product
  • Use correct grammar, punctuation, and complete sentences. Incorporate essential punctuation marks such as hyphens (-), forward slashes (/), commas (,), ampersands (&), and periods (.).
  • Use numerals: "2" instead of "two"
  • All content, including text and photos, must be an accurate and consistent representation of the product itself.
  • Do not include any information which attempts to redirect customers off of TikTok Shop, including but not limited to QR codes, website links, and more. TikTok is unable to monitor the safety and validity of this off platform activity.
  • Do not include branding or references to "TikTok" (without TikTok's prior authorization), or other e-commerce platforms or websites.
  • DO NOT USE ALL CAPITAL LETTERS
  • Do not use special characters, numbers or alternate typefaces to substitute letters anywhere in the listing (e.g., N!KE or Дpple)
  • Do not include subjective comments like "Best Seller" or "Trending Item" in your listings.
  • Do not include marketing material, promotions, or any other information that is not descriptive of the product itself (e.g., "x% off")
  • Do not include misleading claims about a product’s functions, effects, materials, ingredients, or plant/flower seeds (e.g., claiming to cure or manage a disease, using inaccurate material/ingredient claims, or exaggerating seed performance).

Product Title

An effective product title is accurate, concise and includes key information on the product that a customer requires to make an informed purchasing decision. TikTok Shop requires sellers to include information such as the brand (provided sellers have obtained all necessary authorizations from the brand owner), product type and the essential information required for item identification within the product title.
To ensure all product titles are high-quality and helpful for customers, sellers are required to adhere to the following standards:
  • Capitalize the first letter of each word except for prepositions (e.g. 'with’, ‘at’, ‘by’, ‘to’, ‘in’, ‘for’, ‘from’, ‘of’ etc.), conjunctions (and, or, for), or articles (the, a, an).
  • Abbreviate measurements, such as "cm", "oz", "in", and "kg".
  • Titles should be concise and exclude non-critical information.
  • Titles must include only the essential information required for item identification, avoid using any unnecessary details.
  • For multi-pack products, or products that contain more than a single item, quantity should be clearly stated (e.g. '10 ct' or 'Pack of 10')
  • Size and color information should be included in variation titles, not the main title.
  • Do not include your seller's name or link in product titles.

Product Description

Customers are interested in understanding what distinguishes your product from other comparable items. The product description gives sellers the opportunity to provide additional information on the product which is not fully covered in the product's title.
To ensure all product descriptions are high-quality and helpful for customers, sellers are expected to adhere to the following standards:
  • Clearly describe the major product features, characteristics and what the product can be used for.
  • Incorporate precise measurements, care guidelines, and warranty details.
  • Be clearly written and help customers to understand the product. Use correct grammar, punctuation, and complete sentences.
  • Be no less than 30 words.
  • Do not use vague statements and aim for maximum specificity when describing product features and attributes.
  • Do not include information such as seller name or any other seller-specific information, email addresses, website URLs, details about other product listings you offer.
It is recommended to include 3-5 bullet points in your product description. If you opt for bullet points, please note the additional formatting requirements listed below.
  • Highlight the top features and functionalities you want customers to consider, including but not limited to:
    • Target Age/Audience
    • Warranty Information
    • Dimensions
    • Product Use
    • Ingredients
  • Begin each bullet point with a capital letter
  • Provide size details without punctuation or symbols.
  • Specify suitable age ranges with numerals.
  • Indicate the product's source nation.
  • Do not enter company-specific information; this section is for product features only
  • State units like quart, inch, or feet in full form.
Sellers are responsible for ensuring that the product description contains all product information required by applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, product safety information, specifications and warnings. All information provided by sellers is required to be accurate and truthful. Any misleading product information is strictly prohibited.

Product Category

When creating a listing, sellers must select the appropriate product category. Selecting the wrong category will be considered as violation of this policy and may result in enforcement action (see "Further Information and Audit" below). Learn more about Product Categories

Brand

Sellers are required to include brand names on their product listing detail page and should only use third-party intellectual property when they have the necessary authorizations or are otherwise permitted to do so by applicable law. Refer to our TikTok Shop Intellectual Property Policy for further details.
Any behavior which omits, evades or obfuscates proper brand information anywhere on a product listing is prohibited and will be regarded as a violation of these Product Listing Policies, which may lead to enforcement measures.

Images and Videos

Product images and videos must accurately represent the product that is for sale and customers will actually receive. Sellers must not publish or distribute product images and videos that infringe the intellectual property or personal rights of others or that misrepresent the product. The following technical requirements apply to images and videos included in product listings on the TikTok Shop. Please note the TikTok Shop Content Policy and TikTok Community Guidelines also apply to the images and videos where applicable.
  • Sellers may upload up to nine square images. Sellers must select one image to be the main product image. The main product image must show the front physical view of the product. The additional images must show the front, back, sides, and other details of the product, including product accessories (if any). Additional photos may also display key product features, usage scenarios, variations, styled scenes, close ups, and size or scale comparisons. Multiple images displaying the same angle of the product are not allowed.
  • The main image must have a pure white background and be an objective and straightforward representation of the product for sale.
  • All product images must not include any added logos, text, borders, watermarks, or graphics covering the product or in the background.
  • All product images must be at least 600 x 600 pixels.
  • All product images must accurately and clearly represent the product that is for sale. Placeholders and digital renderings of a product are not allowed. Images must include only what the customer will receive.
  • Images must be in color. Black-and-white images are not acceptable.
  • Sellers may upload up to 1 video for each product listing, which must not exceed 5MB.
  • Children's swimwear and undergarments must be displayed flat and cannot feature child models or mannequins. For other categories, the use of child models and mannequins is permitted, provided all images comply with all other TikTok policies.
  • Do not upload any images or videos which violate our TikTok Shop Content Policy and TikTok Community Guidelines. Any images or videos that depict explicit or suggestive sexual imagery, sexual activity, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), a negative body image or mental health, animal abuse, violent or shocking themes, hateful or discriminatory words and symbolism are strictly prohibited.

"What's in The Box"

When creating product listings, it is essential for sellers to accurately and comprehensively detail the contents of each order. This means clearly specifying, describing, and listing every item that is included in the package. Whether it's the main product, accessories, or any additional components, customers should have a complete picture of what they can expect to receive.

Package Weight and Dimension

Sellers must provide accurate package weight and dimensions following the instructions in Seller Center.

Product Sizing

Sellers must provide complete and accurate sizing details when applicable. This is especially important for fashion items such as apparel, bras, and shoes. For non-fashion items, sellers may include dimensions like length, width, height, and/or volume.

Language

Product listings must be provided in the official local language or languages of the jurisdiction they are offered in. This ensures that customers can readily understand and engage with your listings. Using the local language enhances the clarity and accessibility of your products.

Bundles and Multipacks

  • Manufacturer-created bundles are permissible for sale. Manufacturer bundles are a combination of complimentary products that are packaged together by the manufacturer and have a single, unique GTIN that corresponds to the bundle.
  • Manufacturer-created multipacks are permissible for sale. Manufacturer multipacks are multiple units of the same product that are packaged together by the manufacturer and has a single, unique GTIN that corresponds to the multipack.
  • Do not create multiple listings for the same product. Each product may only have one product listing.
  • Do not include multiple products within a single product listing. Combining multiple standalone products and bundling them together in a single product listing is prohibited.

Product Variations

Product variations refer to instances where a single product offers multiple options for customers to choose from. These options can include different categories, quantities, sizes, prices, colors, or other variable characteristics. To make the shopping experience smoother, sellers must display all product variations on the same product detail page.
On TikTok Shop, each product variation is treated as an individual SKU, and the terms are used interchangeably across Seller Center and in our policies.
Variations consist of the following three components.
  • Anchor product: The product that ties the variations together to a single product detail page.
  • Variations (SKUs): The products that are tied together by the anchor. These are the actual items that customers select and purchase. Each variation has its own SKU.
  • Variation style: The attribute that makes the products variable (e.g., size, color, shape, scent, flavor)
Variations must be unique and accurate representations of the same product. Inconsistent or duplicate variations are prohibited and may result in enforcement actions.

Enforcement Actions and Appeals

We regularly review your shop’s compliance with this policy and may take enforcement action if any violations are identified.
