Fair Pricing Policy

image
Key Points:
  • TikTok Shop prohibits misleading pricing, such as listing a product at a price that is significantly lower than the cost of other available variations (e.g., different color, material, style, features, or design).
  • You should avoid listing products at prices that are much higher than comparable items on the market.
  • Listing products at unusually higher prices during situations of widespread emergency or customer demand, also known as "price gouging," is not allowed.
This policy outlines the pricing requirements when listing products on TikTok Shop. Please ensure you also follow the requirements listed in the Product Listing Policy and Customer Order Shipping Policy.

Product Pricing

Product listing prices includes two key components:
  • Product Price: The price shown to customers on a product listing, which is the lowest price among all available options or variations (such as different colors, materials, styles, features, or designs).
  • Shipping Fee: This is the cost charged to customers for delivery and is considered part of the overall cost of a product.

Requirements for Product Pricing

You are responsible for following the product pricing requirements outlined in this policy. Prohibited pricing practices include, but are not limited to, the following types of misconduct:

Misleading Pricing

TikTok Shop prohibits deceptive or misleading pricing practices. This includes listing product variations with significant pricing differences. The primary price displayed to customers is the lowest price in the listing. It is your responsibility to ensure that all product variations are reasonably and similarly priced to reflect an accurate price range in a listing.
  • Example: It may also be considered misleading to list a $19.99 t-shirt and a $39.99 sweatshirt under the same product listing, as they are different product types with different pricing expectations.
Products that are different types, styles, or categories must be listed separately as distinct product listings.

Overcharging

TikTok Shop prohibits listing products at prices that are higher than what is considered fair or reasonable, including during periods of increased customer demand (such as holidays or emergencies). This practice, often referred to as “price gouging,” is prohibited by law in many jurisdictions.

Excessive Shipping Fees

You are responsible for setting your own shipping fees on TikTok Shop. These may vary based on factors like distance, product weight, or delivery speed. However, the following conditions must be met:
  • No excessive or unconventional shipping fees, such as costs that are higher than the product price (e.g., a $4.99 t-shirt with a $19.99 shipping fee).
  • Free shipping may be offered, but using it alongside an inflated product price to mislead buyers is not allowed.
Best Practices
To support a better customer experience and help reduce the risk of excessive shipping fee violations, below are tools and guidelines to help you stay within acceptable shipping fee ranges:
  • Recommended Rate: We recommend setting a flat-rate shipping fee that aligns with customer expectations of reasonable costs. The recommended rate shown in the template reflects the optimal range suggested by TikTok Shop to help guide your pricing.
  • Shipping Template Restrictions: When creating or editing a shipping template, you will not be able to save it if the shipping fee exceeds TikTok Shop’s allowed range. This is based on public carrier rates, reasonable handling costs, and shopper perception. If you believe your shipping fee is justified, submit a ticket through Help Center > Create Ticket > New Ticket with supporting documentation.
  • Detected Excessive Shipping Fee: If your shipping fees exceed TikTok Shop’s thresholds, you will receive a 7-day warning. If no action is taken, all products linked to the affected warehouse may be deactivated. To appeal, visit Help Center > Create Ticket > New Ticket and provide supporting documentation.

Enforcement Actions and Appeals

We regularly review your shop’s compliance with this policy and may take enforcement action if violations related to misleading pricing, unreasonable prices, or excessive shipping fees are found. This may include assigning violation points, removing product listings, suspension, or deactivation. For more information on enforcement actions, refer to our Seller Enforcement Policy.
If you'd like to appeal an enforcement action, visit the Appeals section of our Seller Enforcement Policy for guidance on how to proceed.
