Choking Hazard Warning Label

A choking hazard warning label is required for any product that meets the CPSC’s criteria for small parts. For detailed guidance, visit the CPSC's Small Parts Ban and Choking Hazard Labeling page.
You must:
  • Display a visible choking hazard warning in the product listing, if applicable
  • Ensure the product packaging includes a compliant choking hazard warning label

Products Requiring Choking Hazard Labels

Products with small parts that could pose a choking hazard to children under 3 years old must include a warning. Examples include, but are not limited to:
  • Toys with small, detachable parts
  • Puzzle pieces smaller than 1.25 inches
  • Jewelry or accessories for young children
  • Art and craft supplies like beads, buttons, or sequins
  • Non-toy items (e.g., certain jewelry) that contain small detachable parts
The following product types may require a choking hazard warning and may also be subject to the category qualification process:

Product Verification and Compliance Check

TikTok Shop may review your product listings to ensure they comply with this policy. For certain products, especially those that may require a choking hazard warning, we may ask you to submit:
  • A test report showing compliance with safety standards
  • Product photos clearly displaying labeling, packaging, or small parts
If you receive a notification, follow the steps below to update your declaration and upload necessary documentation.To submit:
  1. Go to Seller Center
  2. Navigate to Account Settings
  3. Open the Qualification Center
  4. Select Product Compliance
Alternatively, you can update your product listing by selecting the Choking Hazard Warning attribute. If you do this, a test report and product photos will no longer be required.

Adding a Choking Hazard Warning Label

To add a choking hazard warning label to an existing product listing:
  1. Log in to Seller Center.
  2. In the navigation pane on the left, select Products.
  3. On the Manage Products page, locate the product listing and select Edit.
  4. In Product Attributes, locate the Choking Hazard Warning attribute and respond accordingly.
  5. When complete, select the Update button in the top right.
To add a choking hazard warning label to a new product listing:
  1. Log in to Seller Center.
  2. In the navigation pane on the left, select Products.
  3. On the Manage Products page, select the Add New Product button in the top right.
  4. In Product Attributes, locate the Choking Hazard Warning attribute and respond accordingly.
  5. When complete, select the Submit For Review button in the top right.
