Campaign registration with GMV max ads

Campaign

Summary

What is GMV Max and how does it integrate with TikTok Shop campaigns?

  • GMV Max is a mandatory ad feature integrated into campaign registration that boosts product visibility by combining organic content with paid ads, maximizing sales and channel ROI during key promotional periods.
  • Ads can be auto-created 7 days before campaign start or manually created by sellers, ensuring time-saving automation and consistent campaign benefits.

What are the key steps sellers must follow to register and manage GMV Max campaigns?

  • Sellers must set up a GMV Max Ads account, register for eligible campaigns, confirm terms, and register products; auto-created ads start running with the campaign launch.
  • Products must maintain active GMV Max campaigns to keep benefits like coupons and traffic; sellers can edit budgets, ROI targets, and add products but cannot change schedules or replace auto-generated creatives.

What happens if GMV Max Ads are disabled or if auto-creation fails?

  • Disabling GMV Max or lacking an active campaign removes all associated subsidies and visibility resources, negatively impacting sales potential.
  • If auto-creation fails, sellers receive failure reasons and can retry; if ads are stopped later, manual campaign creation is required as auto-creation won’t retry.

What controls and limitations do sellers have over auto-created GMV Max campaigns?

  • Sellers can edit campaign details such as adding products, adjusting ROI targets, and changing daily budgets, but cannot alter campaign schedules or replace auto-generated creatives.
  • Only one GMV Max ad per seller per campaign is allowed, with a maximum of 400 products per campaign; ads default to Flexible Mode and are fully funded by sellers.

What are the implications for sellers regarding ad funding and campaign benefits?

  • Sellers fully fund GMV Max ads; the platform does not cover ad costs, so budgeting and ROI management are critical.
  • Maintaining active GMV Max campaigns is essential to retain TikTok-funded coupons, product incentives, and traffic support, directly impacting campaign success and sales growth.

How it Works

Step 1: Register for a campaign

Go to Seller Center -> Promotions->Campaigns. If the campaign is eligible for GMV Max ads, you'll see a special tag "GMV Max enabled" on the campaign list page. If your shop doesn’t have a GMV Max ads account, registration will be blocked until GMV Max account setup is complete.

Step 2: Review terms and confirm

On the campaign details page, you'll see a module explaining that GMV Max Ads are required for campaign participation and that you will need to keep the GMV Max Ads campaign running through the campaign period to maintain benefits such as TikTok-funded coupons, product incentives, and campaign exposure. You can either create a GMV Max Ads campaign yourself or one will automatically be created for you 7 days prior to campaign start. To learn more about how GMV Max supports your campaign, click Learn More for full details on the three stages of how GMV Max works.

Step 3 : Register your product

You’ll go through the standard campaign registration flow to register your products.

Once you've added all your products to register, click "Sumbit" to proceed. Only products that don’t already have a GMV Max campaign will have a GMV Max Ads campaign automatically created 7 days before the platform campaign begins and completed within 3 days. These ads will start running once the platform campaign officially launches.
When you reach this page, it confirms your registration has been submitted. Click “Go to Shop Ads” to continue with ad creation.

Step 4: Manage your GMV Max

Once your products are approved, you will be able to see and manage them under the "Campaign products" tab. You can either create a GMV Max Ads campaign yourself or one will automatically be created for you 7 days prior to campaign start. Once a GMV Max Ads campaign is created, the updated status will show in the "GMV Max status" column and you can manage it from the Shop Ads page.

Note : All products under platform campaigns must maintain an active GMV Max campaign. If GMV Max is disabled, the product will lose eligibility for platform benefits, including subsidies (coupons and direct discounts) and traffic support.
You can recognize auto-created campaigns in two ways:
  • They’ll display a “Bundle Promotion” tag.
  • The campaign name will begin with the prefix “TTS campaign” (you can rename it at any time).
