Requirements to Sell Electronic Products

You may be required to pass category qualification to sell Electronic Products. This process requires submitting documents proving you are qualified to sell these products.
Electronic Children's Products or Refurbished Electronic Products require additional documentation.

Manufacturers, Importers, And Repackers

If you are applying to sell Electronic Products you manufactured, imported, or repacked, you may be required to submit the following documents:
  1. Certification of Compliance or Conformity (COC)

Manufacturers, importers, and repackers must provide a Certification of Compliance or Conformity (COC) that:
  • Was issued within the last 2 years
  • Matches the product category being sold
  • Clearly describes the product tested
  • Lists all safety standards tested
  • Includes the name and address of the accredited laboratory
  • Matches the product shown in submitted photos
  1. Product or Packaging Image

Provide an image of the product or its packaging that shows:
  • A valid Product Electrical Safety Marking
  • A valid FCC Safety Marking (required for products with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi)
Labeling requirements:
  • Safety markings may be embossed on the product or applied as a sticker
  • Markings may also appear on the packaging
  • Double-stickering is not allowed
  • Labels must be secure, flat, and intact (no peeling or creases)

Resellers

If you are applying to sell electronic products as a reseller, you may be required to submit the following documents:
  1. Purchase Invoice

Resellers must provide a legible purchase invoice issued by the product’s manufacturer.
The invoice must:
  • Include the supplier’s company name and address
  • Clearly describe the electronic product being listed
  • Be issued within the last 365 days
  • Be in a language supported by TikTok Shop
  1. Product or Packaging Image

Provide an image of the product or its packaging that shows:

  • A Children’s Product Certificate (CPC)
  • A Sample Tracking Label
  • A test report, depending on seller type

Smart Earphones and Headphones

Smart earphones and headphones are audio devices that use a third-party app to enable advanced features. This category is invite-only.
Invited sellers may need to submit documentation based on their seller type.

Requirements for Smart Earphones and Headphones

Approved sellers must meet functionality, quality, listing, and packaging requirements.
  1. Functional Features
Products must support at least one of the following through a third-party app:
Translation Functions
  • Real-time or simultaneous translation
  • Less than 3 seconds delay
  • Not require the other party to install any software
  • Supports two-way translation for all listed languages
Voice InteractionMay include:
  • Voice control
  • Smart assistant integration
  • Real-time speech-to-text
Health MonitoringMay include:
  • Fitness tracking
  • Sleep monitoring
  • Heart rate monitoring
  1. Product Quality
Products must meet the following standards:
  • All components (earphones/headphones, cables, adapters) must work properly
  • Buttons and ports must function smoothly
  • Bluetooth must:
    • Connect reliably on common devices
    • Reconnect automatically after restart
    • Support at least 10 meters range
    • Maintain stable audio, calls, and audio-video sync
  • Battery life must meet stated specs or support at least 3 hours of playback
  • Product must withstand simulated drops without damage or loss of function
  • Left and right channels must work evenly, without imbalance
  • Product must be comfortable for normal wear
  • If Active Noise Cancellation is claimed, it must provide at least 9 dB noise reduction
  1. Listing
  • Titles, descriptions, and attributes must clearly state that a third-party app is required
  • Instructions for downloading and using the app must be provided
  • The app must be free to use
Example: “ABC Chat requires downloading the ABC App. Smart features only work when connected to the app.”
  • Videos or LIVE demos must show how the app is used
  • Marketing claims must be accurate and include disclaimers when needed, such as:
    • "Performance may vary based on large language model capabilities. This product is not intended for professional mental health services."
    • "Chat assistance responses are examples only. Actual use may vary based on context or software version."
    • "All data shown comes from controlled lab tests. Actual usage may vary."
  1. Packaging
  • Packaging must clearly state that app installation is required for smart features
  • This information must appear:
    • On the external packaging, or
    • On a clearly visible insert card inside the box
  • Listing this information only in the manual is not sufficient

Refurbished Electronic Products

Refurbished electronic products are pre-owned devices that have been repaired and restored for resale.
Examples include:
  • Refurbished laptops
  • Refurbished mobile phones
  • Refurbished tablets
  • Refurbished smartwatches
Eligibility Requirements
  • Not all sellers or products are eligible for refurbished listings.
  • Children’s products are not allowed in refurbished categories.
  • The product listing title and description must include:
    • The word “Refurbished”
    • The brand name
    • The device condition
  • Devices must have a release date within the last 7 years.

Documentation Requirements for Refurbished Electronic Products

Eligible sellers must submit all required documents below.

Purchase Invoice

Sellers must submit a legible purchase invoice issued by the product’s manufacturer.

  • Clearly describe the electronic product being listed
  • Be issued within the last 365 days
  • Be written in a language supported by TikTok Shop

Diagnostic and Erasure Report(s)

Sellers must submit diagnostic and data erasure reports from one of the following approved providers:
  • Phonecheck
  • Blancco
  • Blackbelt
Reports may be combined or separate, but must clearly show:
  • Provider name or logo
  • Device details, including:
    • Manufacturer name
    • Operating system
    • Serial number
    • Model number
  • Confirmation of data erasure or data wipe
  • Diagnostic results showing one or more of the following:
    • No screen scratches
    • No visible cosmetic damage from 12 inches away
    • Premium condition: at least 90% battery health
    • Excellent condition: at least 80% battery health

Enforcement Actions and Appeals

Claiming electrical safety without approved testing or certification violates this policy. Tests and certifications must come from recognized electrical safety or FCC laboratories. Products are also in violation if they have inaccurate or fraudulent labeling.
We regularly review your shop’s compliance with this policy. If any violations are identified, TikTok Shop may take enforcement action at our sole discretion. This may include, but is not limited to:
  • Rejecting your category qualification application
  • Deducting points from your account health
  • Removing product listings

How to Submit Your Documentation

Submit your documentation via the Qualification Center in Seller Center. Click here or follow these steps:
  1. Log into your Seller Center account.
  2. Click your shop icon in the top right corner.
  3. Go to My Account > Account Settings.
  4. Select Qualification Center.
  5. Click on Category Qualification.
  6. Click Add Category Authorization and follow the prompts to submit your application.

How To Address A Category Qualification Rejection

If your application is rejected, you’ll receive a message explaining the reason. Most rejections are due to missing documentation. Review this policy to make sure you’ve met all requirements.
You can view your rejection message by:
  • Clicking the bell icon at the top of your Seller Center homepage to go to your inbox
  • Opening the rejected application in the Qualification Center.
To re-apply:
  1. Go to the Qualification Center, then click Category Qualification.
  2. Click the rejected category to view the rejection reason.
  3. Review the related category policy to confirm what’s needed
  4. Update or replace your documentation to meet the category’s requirements.
  5. Click Resubmit to submit your revised application.
