This document outlines the requirements for selling Sports and Outdoor Recreation Products on TikTok Shop. Sports and outdoor recreation products are also subject to our Restricted Products Policy. Sellers must comply with both this document and the Restricted Products Policy when listing sports and outdoor recreation products.

Requirements To Sell Sports and Outdoor Recreation Products

You may be required to pass a category qualification process to sell Sports and Outdoor Recreation Products on our platform. This process involves submitting documentation that shows you are qualified to sell in this category.

Protective Hearing Devices

This section outlines the requirements for selling protective hearing devices. These devices are designed to reduce sound levels when worn. All protective hearing devices listed on TikTok Shop must comply with applicable EPA regulations.

Manufacturers and Importers

If you are applying to sell sports and outdoor recreation protective hearing devices you manufactured or imported, you must submit the following documents:

1. Certification of Compliance or Conformity (COC)

Manufacturers or importers must submit a valid Certification of Compliance or Conformity (COC) that meets the following requirements:

Issued within the last 2 years
Matches the product category you intend to sell
Clearly describes the tested product, including detailed specifications
Tested to US EPA standards to secure ANSI S3.19-1974 or ANSI/ASA S12.6-2016 certification
Includes the name and address of the accredited testing laboratory
The product described in the report must match the product shown in the photos

2. Product and Packaging Images

Manufacturers and importers must provide a complete set of images showing the product and its packaging, including all information displayed on them.

The label must clearly show the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR)
All text on the packaging and label must be clear, legible, and in English

Resellers

If you are applying to sell sports and outdoor recreation protective hearing devices as a reseller, you must submit the following documents:

1. Purchase Invoice

You must submit a legible purchase invoice issued by the product’s manufacturer. The invoice must meet all of the following requirements:

Include the supplier’s company name and address
Clearly describe the product being listed on TikTok Shop
Be issued within the last 365 days
Be written in a language supported by TikTok Shop

2. Product and Packaging Images

Manufacturers and importers must provide a complete set of images showing the product and its packaging, including all information displayed on them.

The label must clearly show the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR)
All text on the packaging and label must be clear, legible, and in English

Products with CO₂

This section outlines the requirements for selling sports and outdoor recreation products that contain carbon dioxide (CO₂), including:

Manufacturers and Importers

If you are applying to sell sports and outdoor recreation products with CO₂ that you manufactured or imported, you must submit the following documents:

1. Certification from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)

Manufacturers and importers must provide an unaltered and clearly legible DOT certification. The certification must include the following information:

Supplier’s name and address
Issued by the US Department of Transportation (DOT)
Certification is valid at the time of submission (not past the expiration date)
Matches the product category you intend to sell
Clearly states that the product to be transported contains carbon dioxide
Written in English

2. Product Test Report or Certification by a Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)-Accredited Laboratory

Manufacturers and importers must submit a product test report or certification issued by a Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)-accepted laboratory (see list of CPSC-approved laboratories).

The submitted report must be legible, unaltered, and meet all of the following requirements:

Includes the supplier’s name and address
Issued by a recognized CPSC-accepted laboratory
Issued within the past 2 years
Matches the product category you intend to sell
Provides a clear description and details of the product to be transported
Written in English

Resellers

If you are applying to sell sports and outdoor recreation products with CO₂ as a reseller, you must submit the following document:

1. Purchase Invoice

You must submit a legible purchase invoice issued by the product’s manufacturer. The invoice must meet all of the following requirements:

Include the supplier’s company name and address
Clearly describe the product being listed on TikTok Shop
Be issued within the last 365 days
Be written in a language supported by TikTok Shop

Eclipse Glasses

You must be authorized by the American Astronomical Society (AAS) to manufacture and sell eclipse glasses on TikTok Shop. You will also need to submit the following documentation:

A test certificate showing compliance with ISO 12312-2
The company named on the test certificate must appear on the AAS’s list of approved manufacturers and sellers
Product images must clearly display the following statements directly on the product:
- Meets the Requirements for ISO 12312-2
- Conforms to and meets the Transmission Requirements of ISO 12312-2, Filters for Direct Observation of the Sun
- CE Marking

Helmets

While adult helmets are approved via general Category Qualification, Kids' Helmets are designated products. You must submit your Children's Product Certificate (CPC) and Lab Test Reports directly during the Product Listing process. Do not use the Qualification Center for kids' helmets.

Kids' Bikes and Cycling Child Seats

Kids' Bikes and Cycling Child Seats are designated products and require listing-level qualification.You must provide the following documents during the Product Listing process for every individual item:

Children's Product Certificate (CPC): Must be issued within the last 365 days and list all applicable safety rules. TikTok Shop must not be listed as the importer or responsible party.
Children's Product Test Report: Must be from a CPSC-accepted lab, showing a "Pass" result for all applicable standards. The product name and model on the report must exactly match your product listing.

Do not submit these documents in the Qualification Center. They must be uploaded when creating the specific product listing.

Enforcement Actions and Appeals

Claiming electrical safety without approved testing or certification violates these requirements. Tests and certifications must come from recognized electrical safety or FCC laboratories. Products are also in violation if they have inaccurate or fraudulent labeling.

We regularly review your shop’s compliance with this document and our Restricted Products Policy. If any violations are identified, TikTok Shop may take enforcement action at our sole discretion. This may include, but is not limited to:

Rejecting your category qualification application
Deducting points from your account health
Removing product listings

How to Submit Your Documentation

Submit your documentation via the Qualification Center in Seller Center. Click here or follow these steps:

Log into your Seller Center account.
Click your shop icon in the top right corner.
Go to My Account > Account Settings.
Select Qualification Center.
Click on Category Qualification.
Click Add Category Authorization and follow the prompts to submit your application.

How To Address A Category Qualification Rejection

If your application is rejected, you’ll receive a message explaining the reason. Most rejections are due to missing documentation. Review this document to make sure you’ve met all requirements.

You can view your rejection message by:

Clicking the bell icon at the top of your Seller Center homepage to go to your inbox
Opening the rejected application in the Qualification Center.

To re-apply:

Go to the Qualification Center, then click Category Qualification.
Click the rejected category to view the rejection reason.
Review the related category requirements to confirm what’s needed
Update or replace your documentation to meet the category’s requirements.
Click Resubmit to submit your revised application.

Products that claim to be safe for electrical use but are not tested and recognized by product electrical and FCC laboratories, or labeled inaccurately or fraudulently violate the TikTok Shop Restricted Products Policy.
