Requirements To Sell Sports and Outdoor Recreation Products

You may be required to pass a category qualification process to sell Sports and Outdoor Recreation Products on our platform. This process involves submitting documentation that shows you are qualified to sell in this category.

Pesticides and EPA Labeling

This section outlines the requirements you may need to follow when selling pesticides and other products regulated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Please seek independent legal advice if you have questions about the laws and regulations concerning your products.
Products that fall under this include:
  • Pesticides and insecticides
  • Insect repellents
  • Fly and mosquito control devices
  • Weed control products
  • Certain types of fertilizers
  • Any other product that meets the EPA definition of a pesticide
Selling unregistered or mislabeled pesticides is prohibited under FIFRA.

What Is Considered a Pesticide?

A product may be considered a pesticide if it has:
Even indirect claims (e.g., “removes mold” or “prevents infestation”) can bring your product under EPA regulation. For more information on identifying if your product is a pesticide, refer to the EPA's Pesticide Definition page.
  • Any substance or mixture of substances intended for preventing, destroying, repelling, or mitigating any pest.
  • Any substance or mixture of substances intended for use as a plant regulator, defoliant, or desiccant.
  • Any nitrogen stabilizer.

Types of pesticide products

Products may fall into these categories:
  • Conventional pesticide: A substance or mixture of substances intended to prevent, destroy, repel, or mitigate any pest.
  • Pesticide device: Any device or instrument (excluding firearms) designed to trap, destroy, repel, or mitigate pests.
  • Any product that makes direct or indirect claims to “kill,” “destroy,” “repel,” “mitigate,” “remove,” or perform any similar action against pests (claims-based pesticide).

Manufacturers and Importers

If you are applying to sell products that require an EPA label you manufactured or imported, you may be required to submit the following documents:
1. EPA Registration and Establishment Numbersimage
Manufacturers, repackers, and importers may be required to submit EPA Registration and/or Establishment Numbers, depending on the type of pesticide:
Conventional pesticides must:
Pesticide devices must:
  • Be registered with the EPA at the product level (EPA Registration Number).
  • Be produced in an EPA-registered facility (EPA Establishment Number).
  • Be produced in an EPA-registered facility (EPA Establishment Number).
2. Product and Packaging Imagesimage
Manufacturers and importers may be required to submit clear, unaltered images of the product and its packaging, showing:
EPA Establishment Number (for conventional pesticides and pesticide devices)
  • EPA Registration Number (for conventional pesticides)
  • All active ingredients listed on the label
  • The required child safety statement: “Keep Out of Reach of Children”
  • For electrical products, include:
    • Product Electrical Safety Marking
    • FCC Safety Marking, if the product includes Bluetooth or Wi-Fi functions
Labeling must follow these standards:
  • Markings must be printed directly on the packaging or applied as a flat, non-peeling sticker as part of the assembled product.
  • No double stickering allowed.
  • Stickers must lie flat with no creases or peeling edges.
3. Certification of Compliance or Conformity (COC) (for electrical products)image
Manufacturers and importers may be required to submit a valid Certification of Compliance or Conformity (COC) that meets the following requirements:
  • Issued within the last 2 years
  • Matches the product category you intend to sell

  • Includes the name and address of the accredited testing laboratory
  • The product described in the report must match the product shown in the photos

Resellers

If you are applying to sell products that require an EPA label as a reseller, you may be required to submit the following documents:
1. Purchase Invoiceimage
Resellers may be required to submit a legible purchase invoice issued by the product’s manufacturer. The invoice must meet all of the following requirements:
  • Include the supplier’s company name and address
  • Clearly describe the product being listed on TikTok Shop
  • Be issued within the last 365 days
  • Be written in a language supported by TikTok Shop
2. Product and Packaging Imagesimage
Resellers may be required to submit clear, unaltered images of the product and its packaging, showing:

The submitted report must be legible, unaltered, and meet all of the following requirements:
  • Includes the supplier’s name and address
  • Issued by a recognized CPSC-accepted laboratory
  • Issued within the past 2 years
  • Matches the product category you intend to sell
  • Provides a clear description and details of the product to be transported
  • Written in English

Resellers

If you are applying to sell sports and outdoor recreation products with CO₂ as a reseller, you must submit the following document:
1. Purchase Invoiceimage
You must submit a legible purchase invoice issued by the product’s manufacturer. The invoice must meet all of the following requirements:
  • Include the supplier’s company name and address
  • Clearly describe the product being listed on TikTok Shop
  • Be issued within the last 365 days
  • Be written in a language supported by TikTok Shop
Eclipse Glasses
You must be authorized by the American Astronomical Society (AAS) to manufacture and sell eclipse glasses on TikTok Shop. You will also need to submit the following documentation:
  • A test certificate showing compliance with ISO 12312-2
  • The company named on the test certificate must appear on the AAS’s list of approved manufacturers and sellers
  • Product images must clearly display the following statements directly on the product:
    • Meets the Requirements for ISO 12312-2
    • Conforms to and meets the Transmission Requirements of ISO 12312-2, Filters for Direct Observation of the Sun

Enforcement Actions and Appeals

We regularly review your shop’s compliance with this policy. If any violations are identified, TikTok Shop may take enforcement action at our sole discretion. This may include rejecting your category qualification application, assigning violation points, or removing product listings. How to Submit Your Documentation

Submit your documentation through the Qualification Center in Seller Center by clicking here or following these steps:
  1. Log into your Seller Center account.
  2. Click your shop icon in the top right corner.
  3. Go to My Account > Account Settings.
  4. Select Qualification Center.
  5. Click on Category Qualification.
  6. Click Add Category Authorization and follow the prompts to submit your application.

How To Address A Category Qualification Rejection

If your application is rejected, you’ll receive a message explaining the reason. Most rejections are due to missing documentation. It's important to review this policy and ensure you are submitting all documentation and the requirements associated with them.
You can view your rejection message by:
  • Clicking the bell icon at the top of your Seller Center homepage to go to your inbox
  • Opening the rejected application in the Qualification Center.
To re-apply:
  1. Go to the Qualification Center, then click Category Qualification.
  2. Click the rejected category to view the rejection reason.
  3. Review the related category policy to confirm what’s needed
  4. Update or replace your documentation to meet the category’s requirements.
  5. Click Resubmit to submit your revised application.

Products that claim to be safe for electrical use but are not tested and recognized by product electrical and FCC laboratories, or labeled inaccurately or fraudulently violate the TikTok Shop Restricted Products Policy.
