TikTok for Shopify - Contextual API

Overview:

To provide a more stable and reliable connection between Shopify and TikTok Shop, we are upgrading our product synchronization system.
This update changes how products are linked and managed based on their Sales Channel settings in Shopify. Going forward, your Shopify sales channel settings will directly control whether products remain active on TikTok Shop.
Understanding these changes will help you:
  • Maintain active product listings on TikTok Shop
  • Avoid accidental product removals
  • Easily identify and resolve sync-related issues

Key Benefits:

Improved Sync Reliability – Creates a more stable and direct connection between Shopify and TikTok Shop.
Better Product Visibility Control – Manage TikTok Shop product visibility directly through Shopify Sales Channel settings.
Simplified Product Management – Reduces confusion by aligning Shopify publishing settings with TikTok Shop listing behavior.

Understanding the Product Sync Update

With this upgrade:
  • Shopify Sales Channel settings now directly determine whether a product remains active on TikTok Shop.
  • Products without the TikTok Shop sales channel enabled will no longer remain synced.
  • During migration, affected products will display a Sales Channel Off warning.
  • After migration, disabling TikTok Shop in Shopify will automatically remove the product from TikTok Shop.

Identifying Impacted Products

During the migration period, affected products can be identified directly from TikTok Shop Seller Center.

Review Migration Banner

When you log in to Product Management, you may see a migration notification banner.
Available actions:
  • Review Product – View a filtered list of all impacted products.

  • Manual Filter – Filter products using Sales Channel Off status.

Product Behavior During Migration

During the migration period, products may behave differently depending on when the TikTok Shop sales channel is turned OFF in Shopify.

Case 1: Product Stays Live with a Warning

If:
  • Your product was created before XX
  • TikTok Shop sales channel was ON
  • You turned the sales channel OFF after XX
Then:
  • Your product will still stay LIVE on TikTok Shop
  • You may see a warning like:
    • "PAUSE"
    • "Sync with Shopify is paused"
      image
  • The product will not be deleted immediately during migration

Case 2: Product Gets Removed

If:
  • Your product was created before XX
  • TikTok Shop sales channel was ON
  • You turned the sales channel OFF on XX
    image
Then:
  • The product may be removed from TikTok Shop
    image
  • The sync connection between Shopify and TikTok Shop may break
  • You may need to manually recover and reconnect the product later

Understanding Post-Migration Behavior

After your store completes migration, product synchronization behavior becomes more direct.

Automatic Product Removal

If you remove the TikTok Shop sales channel in Shopify:
  • The product will be automatically removed from TikTok Shop.
  • There will no longer be a Sales Channel Off warning.
  • If the product is Live then the product will simply be deleted from your TikTok Shop product list.
  • For Live products, any new updates made on Shopify Product will be paused if TikTok Sales channel is turned OFF. You can either
    • Turn the sales channel ON, by clicking on turn it on link (or)

Important: Keep the TikTok Shop sales channel enabled in Shopify for all products you want live on TikTok Shop.

Handling Large Product Inventories

Stores with large product catalogs or many variants may see additional notifications.

High SKU Count Warning

Products with more than 100 SKUs (variants) will trigger a warning on:
  • Product Management page
  • Product Detail page
    image
This indicates:
  • Additional sync processing may be required
    • Click Edit
    • Save and sync
  • Sync updates may take longer

Understanding "Sync with Shopify is Paused"
